Beasts of No Nation: A Novel by Uzodinma Iweala
In this novel, a young boy, Agu, is forced to become part of a band of guerilla fighters in an African civil war. He is bound to the group by fear and forced to participate, with mixed emotions, in the killings. Agu’s story, expressed in pidgin English, is disquieting and emotionally compelling. The work is the first novel from the Nigerian born, Harvard graduate Iweala.
