Family Poetry Party

Tonight we are kicking off our 2014 Orem Reads series with a Family Poetry Party at 7pm in the Storytelling Wing. Bring the family and enjoy a party full of fun poetry games and activities such as, found poetry collages, acrostics, jump rope rhymes and magnetic poetry with Orem poet and longtime library patron Gina Clark.

Can’t make it to the program tonight? Don’t worry, here are a few books you can check out from the library that you and your family can use to explore poetry at home.

The Poetry Break: An Annotated Anthology with Ideas for Introducing Children to Poetry by Caroline Feller Bauer

Big Talk: Poems for Four Voices by Paul Fleischman

A Foot in the Mouth: Poems to Speak, Sing and Shout by Paul B. Janeczko

Rose, Where Did you get that Red?: Teaching Great Poetry to Children by Kenneth Koch
