The Poisonwood Bible

The Poisonwood BibleThe Poisonwood Bible, Barbara Kingsolver

In 1959, zealous evangelical minister Nathan Price uproots his family from their home in the states to the Belgian Congo, where they struggle to adapt to the climate and connect with the people. Told in turn in the distinctive voices of Nathan’s wife and four growing daughters, this lyrical novel beautifully explores the nuances of love, independence, faith, and fanaticism. Kingsolver was a finalist for the 1999 Pulitzer Prize and won the 2000 Boeke Prize for The Poisonwood Bible.
