Staff Favorites: Roller Girl

roller-girlRoller Girl, Victoria Jamieson, 2015

Roller Girl tells the story of 12-year-old Astrid’s most difficult summer yet.  She loses her best friend and learns how to roller skate. It’s a chance to maybe make some new friends and discover whether she’s got what it takes to be a roller derby girl.  This was my first foray into graphic novels, and I really enjoyed it.  The characters are believable, the plot is interesting, and the artwork contributes to the story in just right way.  Plus I learned a lot about roller derby!
