Pizza Fondue

Pizza fondue.JPGMy kids like to have friends over and serve them pizza. But there are nights that I don’t want to cook, and delivery is just too expensive. So when I discovered this recipe for pizza fondue in 200 Slow Cooker Recipes by Stephanie Ashcraft and Janet Eyring, I had to give it a try.

Pizza Fondue

Makes 8-10 servings

1 (26- to 28-ounce) jar spaghetti sauce

2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 Tablespoon cornstarch

½ cup sliced pepperoni, quartered

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese


Combine all ingredients except the cheese in a greased 2- to 3- ½-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for 2 to 3 hours. Add cheese the last hour of cooking and stir to combine. Stir again just before serving.


I substituted sausage for the pepperoni, and we dipped thick slices of French bread into the fondue. The cheese did disappear in cooking. I think that next time I’ll add it just before serving.

While it won’t replace all pizza for us, this pizza fondue will probably appear in our meal rotation on a regular basis.
